Who are Fritz and Harry?
It all began with two neighbors and a shared idea about making a sparkling hard cider. Fritz is a painter and president of Fritzerland in Corinth, VT. Harry is a preventive medicine doctor/epidemiologist and writes murder mysteries. In their later years, Fritz and Harry seem to have become more agrarian. Both Fritz and Harry still have lots of energy which they infuse into each bottle of Appsecco® .
What is Appsecco®?
We want to say it’s sparkling hard cider, but our Appsecco® is not your average sparkling hard cider. We start with our own heirloom apples. Eighteen varieties. Our trees have never met any chemicals. We press the apples usually in late September, sometimes earlier because of climate change. Sustainability is at the core of our process. We use a 100-year-old, hand-cranked wooden press located deep in the woods at the edge of the electric grid. We let the juice ferment over the winter. After the snowy season ends, we bottle. Unfiltered. Natural. Straightforward but it takes a lot of time when you do everything by hand.
Do you ship outside of Vermont?
We’re a small batch operation. At the moment, we’re focusing on growing within our local community and face-to-face sales, mostly to restaurants and resorts. If you’re in Vermont, we’d love to drive our Appsecco® over to you and meet!

What’s the story behind your bottle label design?
Fritz is the artist. The label is from one of his well-known paintings. The words, they’re Harry’s. He’s a writer.
